Airlines in Nigeria
Air transport data for 2017 from the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics revealed an annual record of over thirteen million air passengers through Nigeria (13,394,945). The number surpassed that for 2016 by 8.03%. The domestic passengers exceeded international air passengers by over two hundred percent (200%). Such staggering figures are responsible for establishing one of Nigeria’s airports, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, among the top ten busiest airports in Nigeria.
There are up to seven functional domestic airlines doing business in Nigeria as of the time of writing.
Air Peace traverses the principal cities of Nigeria. These include Port Harcourt, Lagos, Yola, Enugu, Abuja, Calabar, Uyo, Owerri, Benin, Kaduna, Akure, Kano, and Sokoto. They also fly to some African countries like Accra (Ghana), Monrovia (Liberia), Dakar (Senegal), Freetown (Sierra Leone), and Banjul (Gambia). The Nigerian Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) endorsed Air Peace as the best domestic airline for 2016/2017.

The Internet has made it easy to make flight bookings online. You are much safer using their sites than third parties you don’t assuredly know. Whether you want to fly domestic or international, try to compare prices and ensure they provide good services, too.
It is a bit sensitive with domestic flights as some of the airlines keep going on and off.
For example, some time in the past Arik Air was off the radar then came back. Aero Contractors were once all over the place. But now they cover just a tiny fraction of the former routes.
So with domestic flights, do well to check if they are still operating. When it comes to traveling by air, the price should not be the sole determining factor.
For international flights, the airlines do have their hubs. They will always get there first before going to their intended destination.
For example, boarding Air France to the USA means the flight will make a stopover in France before heading down the USA. Some airlines/flights might make up to two stopovers before their final landing.
Traveling by air is interesting. It doesn’t matter whether it is your first or thousandth time. Enjoy the meals, make new friends, and learn from your travel experience.
